Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does it cost to hire the Sweetmix Roadshow?
- The price depends totally on our customer's needs, the location, event type for any specific event.
- What type of events do you do?
- Sweetmix Roadshow specialise in a range of events. Outside the regular private function circuit, we also cater for events requiring urban and western English music such as corporate parties and multi-cultural music festivals. The type of events we cover include: birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, festivals, concerts, parades, radio, corporate events and other private or public events.
- What type of music do you play?
- Sweetmix Roadshow specialises in Bollywood and Bhangra music but also play other genres. As standard, our roadshows carry a large library of bhangra music, with collections of Top 40, House, RnB & Hip-Hop. We can also add a splash of 70's disco, Garage, Dance and Drum & Bass. If you want your event to have a wider mix of music, please do inform us beforehand. Sweetmix Roadshow pride ourselves on our own tried and tested style, playing music to get a party going and to entertain. Do not be mistaken for thinking that this is only achieved by playing tunes from the contemporary mainstream.
- What is your basic package?
- Our loosely termed basic/starting package consists of simple DJ lighting, haze and flame effects, a few speakers and enough sound to cater for a venue for up to 100 guests and of course DJ and music. (We are sparing you the technical jargon here.) Many of our customers add other elements for their events e.g. Plasma screens, fireworks, intelligent lighting.
- What is your top package?
- This question can be answered with another question: What is your budget! Our loosely termed top end package consists of intelligent DJ lighting (moving heads, scanners, and other misc. lights), smoke/haze/ice and flame effects, unlimited sound capabilities (assigned according to your venue needs), MC, DJ and music, dhol players, bhangra dancers, plasma screens and or projection screens, indoor fireworks and confetti. The sky is the limit.
- What is your most popular package?
- No one package is more popular than the other. Sweetmix Roadshow is versatile and flexible. All types of our roadshow are in equal and popular demand. Based on your budget, we have solution to suit your needs.
- Do you take requests?
- Yes. If our immediate customer desires specific songs, we advise them to notify us before the event to enable us to make sure we can accommodate. On the day, we will take requests but reserve the right to refuse to play songs that we deem inappropriate for the audience/atmosphere on the day.
- Do you provide DVDs or mixed CD demos?
- No. As DJs, we use other the material or other artists and due to legislation and copyright, we do not and cannot give out such digital media. Basically, it would not be able to give you a good feel of a realistic live situation. Be warned: where you do obtain any promotional DVD or mix CD from our competitors, these may have had the benefit of a studio or digital mastering in terms of both sound and imagery: these will not be reflective of live situations. We hope that personal recommendation, word of mouth, this web site and its contents are enough to help you decide on choosing Sweetmix Roadshow.
- How soon before my event should I book?
- As soon as possible! Sweetmix Roadshow keeps busy with other music events and work, other than our DJ roadshow and our diary can get full. We operate on a "first come, first serve basis" with a specific booking date going to a customer who is able to confirm the booking with a deposit. Please note, on receiving enquiries we do not provisionally reserve any dates. All bookings are subject to terms & conditions and a contract.
- What is "intelligent" lighting?
- "Intelligent" lighting is a collection of DJ lights that have been programmed to work together, and can be controlled centrally to create more impressive visual effects. This is NOT provided in the basic/standard package.
- Are pyrotechnics/smoke/bubbles/confetti bombs useable at most venues?
- Depends on the venue. Recently restored buildings with historical significance (and some other venues) do not allow DJs to use any of the above. Fire and safety systems in some venues do to permit us to use smoke and pyrotechnics. Some venues will charge our customers extra to clear up confetti and streamers. We would recommend that anyone wishing to book Sweetmix Roadshow, check for the above restrictions with the venue first.
